Facebook's dark mode interface disappeared from iOS users

Last few days, Facebook users tweeted complaints about the disappearance of dark mode support in Facebook for iOS after updating the app. According to the tweets, many users cannot find the in-app dark mode toggle available in the "Settings" menu of the Facebook app. This means that you can't manually turn on the dark mode even if you want to use the system-wide support.
According to 9to5Mac, experts who share daily news about Apple, this is not considered a major bug. Still, it can affect the visual consistency of users who prefer system-wide dark mode on their iPhone or iPad. The system-wide dark mode was released along with the iOS 13 in late June 2020. After the release, many users recognized the support and began to use it regularly.

In web design, maintaining visual consistency is essential. This helps the users be conscious and unconsciously attached to the brand itself. It also allows us to be familiar with the app itself. So, changes in the regular things we see can affect us unconsciously. It was really helpful to use dark mode while browsing on Facebook because it helped me read all the posts clearly. And whenever I tried to use the Facebook app from another's phone, I became irritated because it hurt my eyes like I was trying to stare at the sun directly. That's why it was imperative to keep using what things you mostly used to.
After noticing it, many users didn't know if Facebook intentionally removed the dark mode support. Because the company doesn't provide release notes for any of its updates in the iOS version of the FB app. But according to the post of Chance Miller on the 9to5Mac website, updates are mostly released every 5-7 days. They believed that the recent updates only affected the dark mode support that mistakenly caused it to disappear.

Some users reported that they now have the dark mode support in settings by uninstalling and reinstalling the app. But there is still more that waits for the dark mode to return on iOS. According to the Twitter user @TheRyGuy86, yesterday was the 4th day since the dark mode disappeared from his iOS device.

Chinese Hackers used Modified Version of Log4j Exploit to Attack Academic Institution

A Chinese advanced persistent threat (APT) hackers has been observed using a modified version of the Log4j exploit to target a large unnamed academic institution. The said exploit was performing various operations such as recon and credential harvesting on the targeted systems.           The APT group was dubbed as "Aquatic Panda" and some believed that they are on-the-go since mid-2020.
